CWF League September 2017 – First Session Of The Autumn League
The CWF League September 2017 session was the first of the Autumn season and seven teams in one division played entertaining football in fine sunny weather.
Twenty two goals were scored in the fourteen matches, the two highest scores were a 4-1 victory for Neston Nomads over Nantwich Barony and a 3-1 win for Crewe Alexandra against Northgate Strollers.
There were some surprising results in this CWF League September 2017 session, perhaps none more so than the two defeats for the normally dominant Northgate Strollers, who only managed to gain one point in three fixtures and find themselves in the unexpected position of propping up the table.
Northgate Rovers didn’t fare much better with two points from four games and are second bottom to the Strollers. Already eleven points behind table toppers Helsby Old Boys, three times champions Northgate Strollers have a lot to do to retain their trophy.
The Helsby team had a 100% record on the day of four wins from four games, all four being 1-0 victories. Crewe Alexandra are in second spot, just three points behind Helsby, having played five games with two wins and three draws.
Close behind are Neston Nomads on seven points from three games and were also the highest scorers in these fixtures with six goals. Nantwich Barony are in fourth spot with four points from four games, followed by the normally competitive Widnes who only managed three points from five games. Widnes shipped seven goals and like Northgate Strollers, find themselves in an unusual position in the league.
Committee members George Brady and Bill Tynan did their usual sterling jobs ensuring that this CWF League September 2017 session ran smoothly.
